My intentions of doing monthly pig facts have fallen along the wayside as the years go by and there is more and more things happening at Wheatley Park. So it is my intention to put the pig facts on one page. Should be done by February 2014 if not you can email me and put me to shame!.
INTERESTING PIG FACT FOR SEPTEMBER 2012
The fertile life span of sperm (34-72 hours) and ova (8-10 hours) are limited. Therefore, timing of insemination and ovulation must be coordinated to achieve high conception rates. Female pigs ovulate about 44 hours after the onset of estrus and the highest conception rates result if spermatozoa are present in the oviduct before ovulation.
