COMMON PIG AILMENTS
Here are just some signs that a common ailment could be lurking so signs to look out for when a pig is ailing (but if kept responsibly, in a clean environment then you will have no cause to worry).
- Poor appetite and thirst – or overeating and drinking
- Lethargy – will also not want to move or get up from sleeping quarters
- Uncharacteristic behaviours (anxiety, aggression, lethargic)
- Off colour
- Watery eyes
- Runny nose
- Lame or stiff walk
- Scratching and rubbing constantly
- Hair loss
- Coughing
- Wheezy breathing
- Discharge from eyes, vagina or nose
- Colour of urine dark or lack of urination
- Constipation
- Vomiting
- Cuts, insect bits, bleeding
- Swellings
- Abnormal temperature
- Stiffness in legs
